10:129-2.1 When an investigation is required

(a) The State Central Registry representative shall deem a call to be a report if he or she determines that a call contains at least one allegation which, if true, would constitute abuse or neglect, as defined inN.J.A.C. 10:129-1.3. The child protective investigator shall investigate each new report, regardless of whether the alleged child victim and his or her family is known or not known to the Department.

(b) A child protective investigator shall conduct a child protection investigation in response to each report alleging abuse or neglect on a military installation, to the extent permitted by the base commander, in accordance with U.S. Department of Defense Directive 6400.1, incorporated herein by reference as amended and supplemented, and this chapter.

(c) A child protective investigator shall handle each report in which the harm alleged to a child is the result of treatment in good faith for a medical condition by spiritual means alone through prayer in accordance with the tenets and practices of a recognized church or religious denomination by duly accredited practitioner thereof in accordance with this chapter, except for N.J.A.C. 10:129-5.3(a)1
